Understanding the mental health needs of family/friend carers of people with chronic kidney disease

Brief Description:

This is a qualitative (interview) study exploring the needs and experiences of family/friend carers of people with Stage 3-5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), to inform an online carer mental health program. Being a carer to someone with CKD can be a rewarding but challenging experience, with some carers experiencing depression, anxiety, and distress. We have developed an online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy program (known as CarersCanADAPT) for carers of people with cancer and are looking to extend this mental health support to carers of people with Stage 3-5 CKD. Participating in this study will involve completing some brief questionnaires and then an online interview via Zoom, where participants will discuss their experiences as a carer, mental health needs, and then will provide feedback on a newly developed support program for carers. Total participation will be <1.5 hours. Participants who complete the questionnaires and interview will receive a $20 WISH gift card as a thank you for their time.
